Through a five-campus partnership The Global Latinidades Project Consortium has received a $1,846,185 Multicampus Research Program Initiative Grant from the University of California Office of the President for The Global Latinidades Project—Globalizing Latinx Studies for the 21st Century, 2021-2024. Recipients include Principal Investigator Ben V. Olguín, Professor, and Robert and Liisa Erickson Presidential Chair in English, UC Santa Barbara; Co-Principal Investigator Arturo Arias, Professor, and John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Chair in the Humanities, UC Merced; Co-Principal Investigator Ofelia Cuevas, Assistant Professor in the Department of Chicana and Chicano Studies, UC Davis; Co-Principal Investigator Cecilia Rivas, Associate Professor in the Department of Latin American and Latino Studies, UC Santa Cruz; and Co-Principal Investigator Richard T. Rodriguez, Professor of Media and Cultural Studies, and English, UC Riverside. The initiative seeks to explore under examined and under theorized areas of the field that lie in the interstices between area and ethnic studies, as well as in spaces through and beyond these fields in dialogue with global studies. Each partnering institution is pursuing and supporting unique research clusters through seed funding for a multiplicity of activities: research, archive, and conference travel; graduate and undergraduate student support; colloquia and conferences; and collaborative research with UC, national, and international partners. Look out for upcoming public events! For more information on the University of California Global Latinidades Project Consortium, see Institutes & Initiatives.
