Sydney Evans graduated from UC Santa Barbara in 2022, where she studied History and Environmental Studies, with minors in Labor Studies and Education. Her primary research interests include union and grassroots organizational strategies, with respect to intersections of class, gender, and race; the historical causes and impacts of social movements focused on housing, land, and wages/employment on local and global scales. Her work and research are guided by her experience working with the Isla Vista Tenants Union (IVTU), Isla Vista Food Forest, and the Isla Vista chapter of Food Not Bombs. As part of the People & Planet Alliance of The Global Latinidades Center, she works to organize events that encourage solidarity both between and within students and long-term residents of Isla Vista.
