Den Earl Dulos is a third-year English major and Asian American studies minor at UCSB. As a first-generation Filipino immigrant, he aims to attend graduate school to become an English and Ethnic Studies educator. In the Winter of 2024, he took an upper-division English course with Professor Ben V. Olguín, Director of The Global Latinidades Center. Dulos served as the Co-Outreach Chair for F.I.E.R.C.E. (Filipinx In Education Reaffirming Community Empowerment) during the 2023-2024 academic year. This student-led organization is dedicated to educating and supporting Filipinx-American high school students in the 805 area, emphasizing the importance of cultural identity and higher education. F.I.E.R.C.E. offers cultural and educational workshops and a mentorship program. The annual F.I.E.R.C.E. High School Conference, held at UCSB, was co-sponsored this year by The Global Latinidades Center. The sponsorship provided t-shirts, tote bags, and workshop materials for over 50 high school mentees.
