Kyler Henderson
2023 AfroLatinidades Fellow
Kyler Malík Henderson is a rising junior majoring in English with a concentration in Afrikana Literature and Cultural Studies at Morehouse College. An ardent Howard Thurman Honors Program scholar and UNCF Mellon Mays Research Fellow in the college’s English department, Kyler also lends his literary talents to his other interests as a member of the Morehouse Filmmakers Association and Morehouse Music Group. Kyler adores literature, being infatuated most recently with that of the postmodern era, especially postmodern literary theory and playwriting.
Standing as an institution that boasts one of the most robust English programs in the country, Kyler was drawn to UCSB like a moth to a flame. He possesses strong aspirations for a future in academia, seeking to earn a doctorate in linguistics and conduct research in literature, linguistics and foreign languages. He believes the AfroLatinidades Institute will both significantly whet his research skills and introduce him to rigorous cultural study and criticism.
