Jasper Kerr
Undergraduate Student Research Assistant
Jasper is a 3rd-year undergraduate Economics major at UC Santa Barbara, set to graduate with honors in the spring of 2023. Despite having little to no background in the humanities, Jasper was drawn to the Global Latinidades Center by way of enrolling in one of Professor Ben Olguín’s courses, not out of academic necessity but out of sheer interest in the material. Struck by the community, strong mission, and the opportunity to improve the campus (and world), Jasper has been assisting logistically with Voces Nuevas and Raza World Visions Radio, as well as GLC in general.
Personally, Jasper is a multidisciplinary artist and writer. He writes, records, and produces his own music, composes poems and essays, engages in journalism through The Bottom Line newspaper, and has recently gotten into photography and video editing. Jasper is an avid reader and traveler, constantly searching for new and interesting art, ideas, people, places and things. He grew up in the DC area, spent summers with family in the southern UK, and is currently based in Santa Barbara.
